Coronation Street fans are completely obsessed with Carla Connor and
DS Lisa Swain’s (Alison King and Vicky Myers) new found friendship,
though many are hoping it will turn into something more. Unfortunately, it won’t be happening
any time soon, actress Alison King has revealed.
It was pretty hard to miss Carla and Lisa’s undeniable chemistry when they shared the screen together amid serial killer Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) exit storyline, and they have only got closer since then.
Dreams were shattered and fans were left devastated when Alison previously admitted that Carla wasn’t looking for a relationship, though fans refused to give up hope.
More recently, actress Vicky Myers told Metro.co.uk that she hoped to see Carla and Lisa’s friendship develop further.
‘I think it would be really nice to see their friendship develop, or just a friendship in general for Lisa. I think she needs that. Somebody to talk to instead of trying to do it all by herself. ’
Is this a sign of good things to come for #Swarla shippers? Perhaps…
‘Unless they know something I don’t, as far as I know I don’t think it’s going that way! Though if the fans keep talking about it, the producers might get ideas!’ Alison told Radio Times.
When reflecting on why fans have grown to love Carla and Lisa’s relationship so much, Alison added: ‘I believe it came from them sharing their softer sides recently to each other. They are two strong women, both at an important stage of their independent life having been through a hell of a lot and are reaching out to each other.’
Alison was also quick to gush about co-star Vicky, who was recently promoted to a regular character after appearing in several high profile storylines over the past few years.
‘Vicky Myers, who plays Swain, is amazing and been in Corrie for years. She’s been given more to do and deserves it.’
So, will #Swarla become ‘endgame’? Nothing is impossible in the world of soap!
