Carla Connor (Alison King) made a generous gesture to DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) when she offered her daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) work experience at the factory in Coronation Street.
Swain had been going through a rough time and confided in Carla how Betsy had been running her ragged, following the death of Swain’s partner.
After being informed that Betsy was looking to pursue fashion, Carla offered her a placement at the factory, which Swain eagerly accepted.
In upcoming scenes, Betsy is set to impress Carla and Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) with her skills on a sewing machine, but things soon go downhill when Carla is forced to confiscate her phone after catching her texting.
Viewers will know that Betsy has been texting killer Joel Deering (Calum Lill) as part of her blackmail plot, having worked out that there is something dodgy about him.
Joel was recently revealed as Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) killer, though so far he has got away with the crime, with paedophile Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) currently behind bars.
There is further upset ahead for Betsy at the factory, when she suggests to Carla that she should hire her full time, only for her suggestion to be brushed off.
It’s no surprise that Carla isn’t eager about the idea, as actress Sydney Martin pointed out that Betsy ‘likes to push buttons’.
‘She definitely likes to push buttons, and we’ll see what happens with Carla – but when she gets a little bit of information on her, she runs with it,’ Sydney teased.
‘If it can make her life better whether it comes to money or opportunities, Betsy will push for it, she’s not afraid to get what she wants.’
Will Betsy succeed in winning a full time job at the factory, or will her suspicions of Joel prove that she is better placed following in her mum’s footsteps?
